  • miraculous recoveries

A few nights ago I posted on the 'Did you get hit last night?" thread that I thought I'd lost a couple of my pumpkins and some winter squashes - actually I was sure one was dead.

So wondered down to the veg patch this afternoon to do some planting out and so on and noticed that ALL the affected plants (including the pumpkin that really is dead) are growing new leaves, have (except for the really dead pumpkin ) perked up no end and maybe, just maybe, nature has worked one of her miracles .

Only time will tell but I'm going to hold off from ripping them up just yet, as the replacement plants aren't quite big enough to go out as yet and the patients may well make a full recovery and then I'll need to find space for the spares (or give them to the school garden ).

Even the 'lost' sweetcorn appears to be growing as well!

I'm glad you have some survivors, it looks as if the ones I thought I'd lost are really dead, and a few more are looking pretty bad. I saw the relacements are beginning to show through though so fingers crossed.
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

Seems to be plenty of people taking recovery action after the last spate of frosts. My potatoes were quite badly frosted so I planted 4 more rows yesterday to compensate. Beans, squashes and sweetcorn weren't out so didn't have a problem there.
