I've just resown sprouts (in fact all my brassicas) as I intelligently sowed out all my lovely strong plants and then didn't cover them......turned my back and returned 2hrs later to find most had been nibbled and the cabbage reduced to stalks!! Has anyone ever read somewhere that pigeons have seedling radars or the most unbelievable sense of smell for cabbages???!! Womble -what do you mean by 'check' - I've sown the sprouts into pots to then move on once big enough, will the late move now mean a delay in their growth?
Transplanting anything, usually puts a slight check to the plants growth, as it gets used to it's new home and expands it's roots. I'm sure there is someone here who knows alot more than me about this.
I've read lots of different things about brassicas, some say they like being moved once or twice, some say it's better if they don't get moved at all.
I wouldn't worry about it too much. Brassicas transplant really well anyway.

Please ignore everything I say, I make it up as I go along, not only do I generally not believe what I write, I never remember it either.
Personally I think you're a bit on the late side for sprouts - did some about this time last year and they didn't do well although the winter probably didn't help. This year I sowed back in March and they're now in 5" pots and about 6" tall and will be planted out in their final positions this weekend.
However you'll be fine with brocolli so get sowing.
