  • Newbie confused gardener needs help

Just getting into this growing veg malarky and have got a lovely 8x10 greenhouse and have planted toms, cucs, chillies and peppers. However have read various bits and bobs and am confused as to whether toms and cucs can grow in the same greenhouse as cucs like humidity and toms don't? Also bought a couple of young melon plants yesterday and not sure whether they need to be in the greenhouse or not (I live in Devon)
We have tried growing toms for the last couple of years outside to no success though I believe blight was a common prob the last couple of years.

    Welcome Sooozy,

I have a small polly tunnel and have cucs, peppers, tom's growing in it. I also have 1 melon plant soon to be potted up that will also stay in, hope this helps in some way but expect more answers.

One point, pop your location in your profile so it shows up on future questions, I'm sure you'll have some

Hi there- and welcome to the Vine!

I am no GH expert I'm afraid!
BUT- we did have a greenhouse for a few years on the previous plot.

I often wondered exactly the same thing about toms and cucs- but never really got an answer- apart that EVERYONE I know with a greenhouse mixes the two plants in the same GH!

Melon?- I'd keep it inside to be honest. It may do OK if we have a lovely summer, but you just never know do you???

And yes- most of us have had a dreadful 2/3 years with blight on outdoor toms( I was OK last summer- but fingers crossed again for this year!)..and some peeps even had probs inside their GH

I grow tomatoes close to the door and cucumbers at the end. Read it somewhere last year as the back is more humid than by the door.

Worked last year so doing the same again this year
