Black containers for veg

Hi All
Most of the containers I am using are black or dark coloured (Morrisons containers etc). I read that becasue black absorbs heat the pot could get too warm and burn the roots of plants. Today has been really warm and sunny and yes the pots did get warm - Can this really have an adverse effect? and has anyone on this forum experienced problems using black pots?

Been using them for years without any problems. Just make sure you keep them well watered. If you are concerned just wrap some tinfoil round them to reflect the sunlight.

I made the mistake of using white plastic pots for growing spuds......baaaaad move! The spuds near the sides were green!

I suppose the ideal scenario would be black on the inside and white/silver on the outside? Tinfoil sounds good though!

Thanks all... it was good to get feedback. Morrisons flower buckets get lots of mention on this forum and seem very popular, so I guess there shouldnt be too many problems using black containers.

Only the top surface is exposed to the suns rays though,and not even that if it has a mulch on it!
