Anyone else suffering from a drought ?

Not something that I'd normally ask being from the Yorkshire Dales but in the last 8 weeks we've had about 5mm of rain.

My plot looks like a dust bowl and as I don't have access to mains water I'm just waiting for my onions,shallots and lettuces to bolt to seed.

Anyone else having similar problems.

The onions and shallots may well be Ok as it'll encourage them to develop deeper roots.
....but the lettuce....

Our water butt at home is running on empty
It's not so bad at the lottie, we have our own rainwater butts and there is piped water to tanks around the site. If you crack through the concrete like top layer of soil it is damp still further down, but I can't remember when we last had rain.
A few overnight showers would be nice..........

The one thing we are not short of in Cumbria is rain....except we are. I could have peed more than we've had in the last couple of months.

Sure it's saving itself for summer, as Binley says, then it'll stick around till September.
I'm lucky enough to have a small duck pond which needed cleaning yesterday. Obliging OH drained it onto my potatoes for me. What a nice man.
Everything else had to be doused by hand, though the containers of flowers and such with water retaining globules have been ok.

No decent rain down here in tropical Dorset for over 7 weeks, we have piped water but could really do with a good downpour over night to help things along.

Fairly typical of every May for the past 3-4 years...I mulched everything in March in anticipation...Underneath the mulch is damp still.

very dry here too: I am puddling in my transplants and then leaving them to it. I had to water my strawbs and comfrey y'day as they were actually wilting, but everything else seems OK (spuds are mulched with newspaper & grass clippings)

We've not had decent rain since March (previous to that it rained constantly from November). The butts are empty and we're draining the bath water off to the garden with one of these

Alot of the grass in front of houses is dying off.

No rain here for weeks, apart from one shower. The garden is looking surprisingly healthy though - helps that most of it is part shaded.

Scortchio in Costa Del Plymouth . Im worrying for my blueberries. Had some rainwater saved for just them, but thats almost gone. Gonna ave to be mainswater now. Ive covered the compost with tinfoil to reflect heat awat and keep in moisture, seems to be working.

Why don't you 'filter' your water through some soil before you use it Sheikh? Specially if you filter it through ericaceous compost. Just fill a pot over a dish and water.
