Same here, I'm glad our garden is shaded from 2 o'clock onwards even though it is shaded by large oak trees. Feel we are probably between the devil and the deep.

Same here, all the rain water is gone and I am carrying buckets of mains water down from the house for the past week.
Having said that, its lovely to have such lovely sunny weather.

And your hands begin to harden.

Carting around watering cans from tap to plants every morning and evening is good excersize. No significant rain here (just a few mm's) in Poole since Easter Saturday at the beginning of April.

btw, you don't need to be watering the garden every day: one good soak a week is enough. Light, shallow watering onto the soil is worse than useless, because it just encourages roots to come to the surface where they dry out even more.

(Seedlings and new transplants will need watering more often)

Those pumps, TwoSheds- seem cool and cheap too. Is using the bath water ok then? We have to bath our baby in Oilatum - which is liquid parafin (hate using it on her,but she has eczema and this keeps her all lubed up and it at bay!).

Would this be safe to use around the veg, I can't really see how it's different from using soapy/grey water as that's all derived from oil anyway [unless you're using some sort of green wash stuff?]

I've quite fancied syphoning grey water for some time now, but never have as haven't looked into it/am concerned about the soap in the water, etc?

                  Edit:

                  Found on their site:
Can I recycle bathwater onto my fruit and vegetables?
Recycled water should not be used on edible crops, but you can of course use WaterGreen to move rainwater from a water butt to the vegetable patch.

So maybe just for the plants then

D'oh!! I clean and refill the ducks ponds and containers every day and have been tipping it into the drainage dike.... stupid girl!!

All I need to do now is work out how to transport the water from the bird runs to the veg patch - methinks some more buckets are needed!!!

I am definitely not going to start complaining about the lack of rain after the last couple of years

I remember last "Summer" too well - its ingrained in my soul forever, along with the months of wasted care and time spent on plants that cropped poorly or not at all - I think what broke me finally, was while I was trying to work in the veg garden one showery day in August, following weeks of torrential rain, I just ended up standing in the rain, laughing manically

I'd be more than happy to not see a drop of rain until October.
Jiving on down to the beach to see the blue and the gray, seems to be all and it's rosy-it's a beautiful day!

YAY it's raining!! We had a few showers yesterday, a little more overnight, and we've just had another shower. Good steady stuff too, hope it will soak in a bit - the garden really needs it.

Rained most of yesterday and through the night, blue skies and sun this morning just what we needed.
You have to loose sight of the shore sometimes to cross new oceans

I would be a perfectionist, but I dont have the time

It rained most of the day and night yesterday \o/ and today they have given it to be sunny again so I'm off to the lottie for a spot of weeding and see if the pigeons have been back (got some debris netting now though )

We had rain yesterday but it hasn't made much difference to the soil. It was forecast as heavy, not IMO!
