I notice ants all over mine, inside the leaves etc.. Can't see anything on their other than them, just wondering if their after the sap etc. Thankfull no eggs yet though!
They have been squished,i would still like to know what butterfly/moth laid them cos if i see them again they might live if its better for nature.I can stand to lose a few beans

Ants tend to be on beans because they are farming aphids or blackfly. I'd keep a look out!
I'd get the ants off your plants (put up a polite sign or something!!) as I left them last year, thinking they were probably eating the aphids....only to learn the very harsh lesson that the little blighters farm the aphids and the second half of my broadbean crop was rubbished by black gunk all over them from the blackfly that the ants love and despite people saying 'it won't ruin your beans' it does and mine failed miserably after the ants moved in and everything went from green to black This year, the ants will get a good soapy washing down or something similar!
I'll add to that.
Blobs of jam or honey at the base of the plant may take their attn away from the aphids, I think Bob Flowerdew came up with that one.
A squirt of insect glue round the trunk will trap them as they try to climb, not really much good on lots of broad beans, but could be good on trees etc.

Please ignore everything I say, I make it up as I go along, not only do I generally not believe what I write, I never remember it either.
