    Hiya

Planted my 4 lots of potatoes at the end of Feb.

Had a fumble around in the bags just and can't feel a thing.......

I saw a few woodlice crawling at the top of the bag, do they eat potatoes?

    Well gutted

    TIA

If they were outside I think you might have been a bit early with them. We were still having very hard frosts then and mine didn't go into the ground till end of March and then in ground that had been warming up under black plastic.

IMHO February is far too early to be planting potatoes, but if the foliage has survived and grown well they should be nearly ready. What variety were they? Are you feeling deep enough into the compost?

I can never find any when Im having a furtle around but it does seem early for tato's. Give it another few weeks at least if they are earlies. Do you know when they were planted and what variety or anything?

The one's i looked at were Lady Christl. The foliage is growing away fine and looks really healthy.

I reached as far down into the bag as I could so at least halfway down. Had a look at the Charlotte's and I could feel the tubers so stopped so not to disturb them?

I've harvested some of my Lady Chrysl but they were in the greenhouse. Outside, they'll need more time. I also watered them very copiously in the last 3 weeks. That's when the tubers are swelling fast. Give them plenty of water for a couple of weeks. Woodlice eat rubbish, they have very small mouth parts. I wouldn't worry about them.

Thanks Flum, hopefully they won't be too long then - I forgot to add that I did start them in the greenhouse and moved them out late March
