'Hardening off' tomato question

Does 'hardening off' also apply to transferring plants from a cooler environment to a hotter one? e.g. I moved young tomato plants from indoors to an inflatable greenhouse outdoors (which has got like 3" insulation) and the leaves went crispy.

The same thing happened a few weeks ago in opposite temperature conditions. Young tomato plants indoors went into inflatable greenhouse outdoors. Outside temp suddenly went very chilly for a week. Leaves went crispy.

They need to be acclimatized gradually not suddenly moved from one environment to another. With hardening off you should move to cooler area during the day and bring them back in at night when temperatures drop. I don't generally move things from cooler to hotter conditions but I imagine the same rules would apply...do it gradually.

No, you don't need to do it gradually, just make sure the greenhouse isn't too hot (which yours obviously was).
