  • Black spots on broad beans leaves?

I've noticed that my broad beans (Suttons) have black spots on their 'small' leaves, close to the stem - is this normal? The spots go through to the other side, and I've noticed it on a couple other plants too.

Ants seem to be concentrated around the spots- but there's no damage etc to the leaves, so assuming their after sap/nectar?

Pic attached, but it's out of focus - from my camera phone - sorry!

It's hard to tell from the pic but it could be the start of chocolate spot - this is a cosmetic disease common in broad beans, but does no harm.

If there is only one on each leaf and quite central then its normal.

It's not chocolate spot, but have a look anyway (it'll give you something else to worry about ): Royal Horticultural Society | Advice Search | Broad bean chocolate spot
