    No, it's not a question.

For those that planted their garlic out before the shortest day [22nd December] or thereabouts.....your garlic should be ready for digging up in about 3 weeks.

On the surface, it probably looks about 8-10mm [less than half an inch] wide, but under the ground it should be thickening up nicely.

I use alot as green garlic, and tonight I pulled the smallest in my patch that went in on 18th Sept from my own saved bulbs [originally from the greengrocers in Woolaton, Nottingham].

As you can see, the bulbs are getting nice and fat under the ground.

Inside, the cloves should be separating themselves, and thickening up. In time, the outside skin will be ready to flake off once the bulbs are dug up and dried out.

We planted ours last October , most at the lottie which seem to be thickening up nicely and some at home which we've been pulling for green garlic as they don't seem to be growing as well as the others.

I have no idea; in my experience Garlic needs 6 months with a cold snap...this is for garlic that went in between Sept and Dec. It's what winter is made for - it fills the beds nicely all winter long

What do they look like now?

I pulled one t'other day and it was a bit like yours Zazen, slightly smaller. I'm very hopeful of finally getting a crop this year

I planted mine in December, but i was wondering as most of the plants seem to be a month late (do not get me started on my allegedly first early spuds) will the garlic be late out of the ground this year

I've grown some Fokhagyma and now think that I may have boobed. I planted the whole bulb!!! Should I have split them?
They seem to be growing ok and some of the stems are about 10mm wide. They have been in since Feb for harvesting in August- September according to the pack and certainly have been exposed to some frosts.
The instructions said to plant the bulb with the tip showing but after reading around I'm now wondering if I misunderstood.DOH

Oh..urm..I planted mine on the full moon in November ( ish) cos I had ( as usual) decided to go with Moon Gardening.
6 months? - well we've had 3 exceptionally cold snaps...mine must be ready now?

I thought you had to leave it til it dies back????

I planted some Purple Moldovan back in about November but only one clove survived the winter and the rest all rotted etc . However am going to leave that bulb where it is until it's fully dried as I want to be able to replant it later this year rather than buying any new - gradually increase the amount. Have plenty of January sown garlic which will be ready later on so won't go without

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I found the ones I planted in November still needed the until nearly mid June , but that was in a better winter; I think they may need longer this year as you'd think those put in Sept time would be ready by now.

Yes, the cloves are planted not the bulb. But hey ho!
