I definitely planted mine last year....

Bought proper stuff this time too - not the supermarket stuff I tried last year.

    Here's mine last weekend;

I just had to dig up a load more today and move them [grrrr] and even the ones that I'd mistakenly put under a plank [long story] which was removed 3 weeks ago are a good inch and half wide.

      Love garlic

Good to hear yours is doing well two_sheds

Mine look like your HW- but the bulbs are smaller than ping pong balls.
I'm going to need to wait a while me thinks!

I planted mine in March I believe and my stems are really thin..........

What is the best thing to feed them on?

Last year I left mine until late July when the leaves were really yellowing -- I suspect I could have picked earlier, but my reasoning is if the tops are still growing, the bulbs are still plumping.

            No scapes so far...

I had a furtle under the soil today and discovered that most of mine are the same thickness as the stem. I think they might have been suffering from the lack of water recently though..

Heigh ho, they'll wait a while I guess. We're still using some from last year that's only just starting to sprout. (Wight Cristo, stored in a cool garage)

Mine seem to be going very yellow with the start of the leaves withering in the heat, but they seem too small to crop at present. I guess maybe this isnt going to be a garlic year!

got a bit impatient and pulled one up , good size and smelt lovely. Cloves were not really separated though, will leave the rest for a while.

I planted mine in Oct, and the leaves are yellowing, but I haven't investigated yet. I'm still using up the last year's crop, they have lasted very well in the garage over the winter and are just beginning to shoot. Stil usable though.
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

Mine went into flower buckets after I'd pulled put my toms so I must have planted them September/October ish I'll have to have a furtle and see what they're doing.

Planted out roughly 30 cloves at the beginning of last November and dug them all out this weekend, would have left them in for longer but some had started to rot so thought it best to whip the whole lot out.
The smallest was about the size of a golf ball and the largest at least 2x/3x that size, but did end up losing about a third of the crop to rot although I'm pretty happy for my first try at it.
Just a bit concerned for the onions now which were further along in the same bed, already pulled a half dozen rotten ones (the limp/yellow leaves give em away) and will keep checking what's left.

Thanks for the heads up Zaz, I would have waited for the leaves to have died but it's a bonus to know that I may not have to.
