  • Minipop sweetcorn flowering!

My minipop sweetcorn has just started flowering at about 3 foot tall - is that normal? Never grown it before!

My normal sized sweetcorn only got about 3' last year. I think I'd been too slow to plant it out and it got a bit stunted. When did you plant it? I only just planted this years in the ground!

      Hey,

I put the seeds in a heated propergator Marchish then potted on into individual tray pots and they stayed in the heated greenhouse till mid- May. They where about 2ft when I planted them out... Gave them lots of manure and food to!
Still suprised that they are already flowering, I thought they would get big first?

Mine are still about 6" tall
But I didn't use a heated prop' or anything.
The spare one I just popped into my basil pot inside is about 1' tall though.

If I remember correctly, they will carry on growing as the flower spikes come out.
So should get bigger, I've never grown mini sweetcorn before though, only normal sized.
I would have thought, that as long as you get the mini SC off them, you would have wanted them to stay smaller anyway, less work.

Please ignore everything I say, I make it up as I go along, not only do I generally not believe what I write, I never remember it either.
