Chinese artichoke

Anyone grown these/eaten these?

They seem very tempting but I don't want to get them if they don't taste good. I seem to remember that they're like mint and spread everywhere...is this true? Would I be better off planting them in pots if I get some?

There is quite a bit on these if you look in 'search'
I grew these a couple of years ago and they are a bit fiddly to scrub clean as they are small and bumpy, taste a bit nutty, easy to grow, and yes they do spread but only if you leave the odd one in the soil.
Maybe growing 2-3 in 10"pots sunk into the soil would be the easiest way?
I would certainly grow them again- they do taste nice and are not difficult to weed out if you have a change of heart.

Just had our first batch for the year - stir fried! One more batch to go. All provided by just 3 tubers in a pot. (All the tubers planted in clay soil went missing in action).

I put some aside in a a tray full of soil for planting out early next year again.

They are an African delicacy when dried.
