it varies, but does take up lots of time, definitely addictive.

I blame my dad who gave me my own veg patch when I was 2

*whispers* that was 51 years ago....

Which hobby are we talking about, Nick? I spend far too much time on the Grapevine - it is addictive.
I spend about 10 hours a week on my allotment at the moment and I love it! Great hobby and very healthy.
        How long do you spend?
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

Ohhhh yes. Being fortunate enough to have space right outside the front (back, side doors and windows) is a double edged sword. I spend alot of time just looking at things. Thinking of how one plant or another all started off some months ago as a very small seed.

Under my new morning and evening routine I'm on 25 hours during the week at the moment. Weekends vary from most of the day to very little.
This week I've missed a couple of shifts so I'm up to about 12 hours which could become 17 by tomorrow.

Then there's the time reading and thinking about it... which I try not to think about.

I'm despairing this year - it's eating up around two hours a day at the moment just to get everything sorted out, planted and fixed. The garden is literally tidier than the house at the moment!

I have dabbled in the past.. french beans (in same space every year - they did ok), tomato plants - never pruned... was happy with the few marbles that resulted. courgettes that just went on and on with no effort - in the same space every year (ignorance is bliss).

This year (after three years of growing nothing - no garden I could grow in) I decided to container grow vegetables, and have suddenly gone all scientific about it - deliberating on choice of compost/feeding/spacing etc.... I wouldnt say I have been totally obsessed but there was a point towards end of May when the sowing/planting out activity took over a bit... now it's just nice - keeping on top of watering and feeding - I check the plants every day but it only takes a few minutes. Next year I plan to have two 4ft square beds (for SFG) and wonder how much time they will take to maintain.
