hi im new to this forum, but would love some advice we have a victoria plum tree in our garden which has to be around twelve years old, at the moment it has loads of growth on it, but is so overgrown, the branches are bending over and almost breaking it has gone wild, my question is can you prune it whilst the fruit are growing? or shall we wait untill the fruit has finished? really dont want to harm the tree its so lovely and the plums are yummy. hope someone can help.

Lucky you! I inherited a Victoria plum when I moved into my cottage a few years ago. It had been hacked back by the landlord and was in a sorry state. It did recover though it's a bit of a funny shape and the plums are gorgeous. The best time to prune plum trees is in the summer - apparently it reduces the risk of introducing disease.
