  • Ashes from garden bonfires

    what can I do with all the ashes from burning weeds and roots? Can it be dug into the soil?

    A good way to deter predators is to taste awful.

    dug in, put onto the compost heap, sprinkled around fruit bushes etc etc

      Full of pottasium and lime so good for fruit bushes and brassica plot!

        I chuck mine around the tomatoes for now. Brassicas later on.

          It can also go on the compost heap and will compost fairly quickly compared to wood chips.

            Yup, high potassium and very alkaline so good for preparing beds for fruits (like strawberries and gooseberries) and fruiting vegetables like tomatoes and curcubits (pumpkin, squash, courgette, cucumber).
