  • Tattie sack empty

Hi all, had a rumage in my tattie sacks earlier and not a single spud.Put them in about march and the plants are starting to flower just now and the foilage looks really tall, thick and healthy. These weren,t bought seed potatoes but supermarket varieties that started to sprout (maris piper), so was wondering if i should take them out and start again with proper seed potatoes or would it be to late for that and just let them be

I think Maris Piper are maincrop, well that's how I'm treating mine so I think you have lifted them too early.........Where's a tattieman when you want one?..........

Mains take 15-22 weeks. So from 'about march' that takes you to.....the end of June to the beginning of August; so perhaps go back in August when the tops die back and see what you have then....

I must learn to read these posts, I took it that they had already been lifted.......

Thanks for the advice, first year having a garden ( stayed in a flat before ) so i,m a bit of a novice when it comes to growing your own. Have to admit, i thought tatties were, eh well just TATTIES, didn,t realise there were different crops when i planted them so i,ll wait another couple of months to see how they come on.
