  • Peanut plants

Ok, i ordered some peanut plants. They arrived yesterday.

I am gonna pot them up today in the polytunnel.
I bought them really as a fun plant.

I have Oh and my boys that they have to guess what they are. I have told them they wont find out until the autumn, what harvest we will get from them.

So, although i have bought these for a bit of fun, and i think its great the way in which they flower and then find themselves back in the soil for the nut to grow, i was wondering if anyone has grown them
If so, did they fruit for you?
    Did thy taste good?

Any information would be much appreciated.

I did try to grow them outside the last year and did not manage to get any fruit. The weather was not hot enough. This year, I grow them again, I got some seeds germinated from the supermarket peanuts. I put them in the greenhouse this time so hopefully will get some fruit.

i grew these on the windowcill in a 10 inch pot when the kids were little(about 10 yrs ago they grow fine with quite attractive flowers, as I recall we got abot 15-20 nuts per plant.
loofahs are fun for the kids too.
