  • I Have Mixed My Toms Up :(

Ok so I have done it again, mixed all my plants up and cant remember what most things are.

My dilema is that my toms are getting to the stages where the need regular armpitting but I cant remember which is a bush and which are vine, I think I know which the bush ones are as they seem to shoot more armpits out with flowers on and seem bushier? The vine (what I think are vines) ones seem to be taller and the armpit shoots dont have flowers on untill they get quite large.

    Does that sound right?

    Many Thanks

        Rules of tomato growing.

One plant = one label = one cane.

Think that's bad? I left a black cherry outside last night - forgot about it.. Bit windy.. leaves are all white today :| Bit annoyed, as I was really looking forward to seeing the fruit!

I've done this before. It's easily done. If they grow tall, I grow them like vines, otherwise I leave them as bushes. Sometimes it means leaving it a bit later before removing the side shoots.

Very very good rule ...however we have found around 30 volunteers on the plot and havent the heart to ditch them so they are all planted up - as i grew several varieties last year i have no idea what they are ! Just letting them grow!

We have about 80 tom plants I think I have got them sorted, although the vast majority are roma(for making sauces and soups) and I always grow them like vines, but I have seen on here some people grow them like bushes??

Next is the nightmare with my brassicas, aint got a clue what most are, and I dont think I have any cabbages left as some are starting to get bigger and dont look like cabbages .

Oh well, new rule for next year, 1 pot, 1 label
