  • Would like to use Horse Manure BUT!!

Hi everyone, hoping someone can help. I am looking to get hold of some horse manure to rot down and put on my patch later in the year but the threat of Aminopyralid scares the hell out of me after reading the stories of others who have been left with the problems this causes after using contaminated Manure. My question is, does anybody know of a supplier/stables in the Bury area that they use or have used that has uncontaminated manure. Just trying cut down the risk of ruining my plot after I have put in so much work to get it started.

    Many thanks

My local farmer had been supplying the allotments and gardens for 25+ years with no problem whatsoever; however their supplier of straw had been ill and got contractors in who must have used a product containing Aminopyralid. Ergo; loads of contaminated plots. We just happened to get the wrong season's load.

What I'm trying to say is that nothing is guaranteed; even if we had asked they wouldn't have known. It was me that told THEM what the problem was in their own manure.

I have a local riding stable that lets you take the manure for free. I know that it has to be mature but can I put in my compost bin. Will it accelerate the grass cuttings.
