Sweet Potato - light raised bumps on leaves

Couple of my sweet spud plants have these raised bumps on their leaves.. not sure what they are - anyone have an idea?

They're inside at the moment if that makes any difference. Watered always from the bottom.



Leaves that have been touching this are showing signs of it too.

Sweet Potato - light raised bumps on leaves

First time growing sweet potato.
I bought 5 organic tubers from supermarket, placed in pots to sprout
The first one to sprout has those bumps as in the picture in first post
The next 2 plants are fine stored separately.
The last 2 are a bit slow at sprouting but are starting to have those spots

What are they

I've never grown sweet potato, but could it be Oedema? Caused by container plants being over-watered - particularly at night.

never heard of that before. read another site said put alcohol on leaves. I tried it with gin and the spot shrivelled to dark brown specks. Plant looks ok where it had gin treatment I will look into the watering schedule

Happens to pretty much all the nightshade plants. Basically the plant takes up too much water (usually after watering too late in the evening/at night) and has no where to put it. It stores this excess water in the cells in the leaves, causing them to swell. After a few days you will notice the bumps will have gone down but will have light brown patches where the cells have exhausted themselves. It's completely harmless =)
