I suppose this is really about seasonal stuff again.
I grew up with 4 apple trees and I ate apples til I was sick of them...and then all this importing from all over the world milarkey started - and anything was available at anytime at a cost- and we just got used to it.
I sometimes have 1/2 lettuce for lunch with a dressing on it and a chunk of bread- at one time I'd of had just a couple of leaves with some meat etc.
I sometimes think you just have to 'knuckle under' and get stuck into a glut. After all it is vertually free nosh- and very, very healthy.
Yup- I agree it's very difficult to judge how many seeds to sow, but sharing plants and produce is a great pleasure when you see people's faces light up.
And yes- we do need to change our eating habits quite a lot to get back to eating seasonally til you start to get fed up with one crop, and look forward to the next.
Oh- yes- and working on our preserving/culinary skills too!
...an interesting thread BM!!
