one word of warning, or sentence really, be careful when taking big sideshoots off,I killed a tigerella after taking one off because the main stem snapped. Not all is lost, I stuck two of the biggest in the ground,so hopefully, they'll replace it
So am I right in thinking I should end up with one main trunk with only leaves & trusses........No other branches at all.

Yes, yes, yes!
But only on cordon tomatoes
And be careful when you take out the top sideshoot, on some toms it can be a bit awkward, ie you're not always sure whether it's a sideshoot or the main growing point, I find it better to wait a day or two sometimes to see how they look then.

You lot will make me into a tomato grower yet, in previous years I have only nipped out the "armpits" & left the other branches with good results, maybe I was lucky.......

But unfortunatly you have taken too many leaves off, so yours might end up looking like twiggy.
OK Kate Moss for the younger viewers.
I like Twiggy (even if she is too old for me)....... & Kate Moss (if I was 30 years younger).....

Err, I'm confused now, that is what you are supposed to do.
