      thanks all those who replied to my question, now I am totally confused, but I think my peas are ok as they have lots of flowers and pea pods, think it may be a case of over watering.

        my peas are in buckets and the slugs have not worked out how to slither up the buckets yet, so possibly over watering I think.

          Our peas are in buckets and our snails have worked out how to get in... Thankfuly they were established so they just eat the bottom couple of leaves, turn it slightly yellow and leave the stems alone so lots and lots of peas in our first year of GYO! Yey!
