Are deep pots okay for tomato and cucumber plants?

Buckets! Why on earth didn't I think of that, a 14L bucket is around £1.

I'm using 17L Potato bags for my Tomatoes this year though 13L are available specifically aimed at Tomatoes. I've also added a little bit of manure.

I want to see if the watering can be reduced compared to smaller pots and growbags with pots. To date it's looking promising.
