Think i've seen 1 so far. I have netting over most things , more to stop the birds having a play in my raised bed and the cats.

      Thought of this thread today.
I lifted the netting dome off my brassica bed today to harvest a couple of PSB spears and inspect the cabbages. The instant I had it off there was a Large White fluttering about the place! I hadn't even seen one in the garden before. Sadly I opted to murderify it rather than risk a single batch of eggs getting to the plants this year.

Definitely staying netted for the duration.

I had one stuck inside my netting earlier in the week.....no idea how it got in. The rest of its family and friends are circling constantly waiting for that lapse in concentration when I forget to pin the netting down.....swines!!!

I've been busy removing eggs from my brassicas these last few days, seems to be a sudden influx of them.

Please ignore everything I say, I make it up as I go along, not only do I generally not believe what I write, I never remember it either.

I only have pigeon netting on mine, which I won't be removing! Have squished a few CW eggs but not many (touches wood etc!)

I net all young plants up as them flying pigs can clear a crop overnight.. but i also grow white turnips in the the cabbages etc, and the smell puts the white butterflys off.
I also used spent hops and or crushed egg shells round young plants to keep the slugs and snails away. This is the first year that i have not lost any plants to slugs.

I didnt bother with netting on my cold frame as I hadn't seen a single butterfly, and was presented with hundreds of cabbage looney caterpillars - the caterpillars of the brown moth

                      I cant remove my netting.

We have loads and loads of white butterflys here. The cabbages i grew overwinter got hit with the butterflys and we had to remove hundreds of those pesky caterpillars I hadnt netted them.

Luckily my plants were nearly all ok.

Even with my netting, the odd one still gets in and i have to squish it.

I think they just hide and wait to get in there when i am weeding.
