Loads of Tomato flowers

Hi,

Have been a lurker for a while. I am new to all of this and everything seems to be going quite well. However, I have a question about my garden pearl tomatoes.

They have had literally hundreds of flowers on for ages, when I say ages I mean a month or two. Some of them have turned into tomatoes that are small cherry sized now, but most of them are just sat there, still yellow and don't seem to be doing much.

Will anything come of these flowers as they have been there so long? Don't get me wrong, they look lovely, but was all excited when they first came through thinking I would have loads of tomatoes but still only have a few in comparison to the number of flowers. Do I need to do anything with them?

Generally speaking they wll all set if they are fertilised. Tap the tomato plant regularly, or shake the stems. This will distribute the pollen. They are largely self fertile so the pollen is all in there, inside the little cone on the flower, and jostling it about helps.

i have loads of flowers on mine as well and tomtoe buds i just keeping feeding them
2 times a week with feed and i add natural molasses pure cane into mix
you need to mix it with hot water as its like tar then pop it into water can add rest of water and that will help them

Thank you for your quick responses. So it looks like all is not lost, they just seem to have been hanging around forever!

I have been feeding once a week but will do as suggested and give more often.

The hot weather may have caused dry set - try spraying with a fine mist of water in the morning but don't overdo this as the flowers may rot.

Garden pearl is my favourite, my grandchildren love to wander around the garden eating from the plants. I feed mine twice weekly when they are in flower. Be patient and you'll get loads!
