Evening all.
I have a black bug problem
A few weeks ago I noticed a few little black bugs on the courgette plants. They weren't doing any damage to the plant and I have been getting some yummy courgettes from them. When you look at them now I would call it an infestation!!
They are very small bugs (about 1mm) that crawl around and they dont fly. They surround the flowers and there are a few on the leaves and courgettes themselves.
As I say, they dont damage the leaves or the fruit. There are no holes or nibbles but there are so many I think they might start to become detrimental.
I have noticed about 3 of them on my Pumpkins now too!
Does anyone know what these might be? And also, can you think of a chicken friendly way that I might deal with them (we have three hens who free-range). The chickens cant actually get to the courgettes (or I wouldn't have any for myself) but there is always a chance they might get to them and I dont want to poisen them.
