Why don't you get some hens to get fat on the fat hen?

Best Kelsae onions I ever grew were smothered in a sea of chickweed!

I must be mad but I'm one of those people who actually ENJOYS weeding..........hands and knees job of course, less painful on the back. We got a free load of soil conditioner a while back from the Council and i used it as mulch. You would be surprised what has come up in the lottie in the areas i have mulched. Lupins, box and Tagetes to name but a few. I wouldn't have spotted these if I didn't hand weed!

Time to recite the evergreen verse " One years seeding seven years weeding"
My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)

Me too Snadger - hand weeding is very satisfying. Did my onion bed today, and they are looking lovely now the chickweed, groundsel, etc. has been removed. I think the weeds have helped keep them cool lately, and as our first lot of rain only arrived yesterday they may have acted as a sort of mulch.
