we have had a rotten week with the weather,gales,rain and seems to be constant cloud,but...in the greenhouse the melons have finally taken off,three plants and 11 young melons,that is on par with last year(when it just kept raining),as the soil border in the g/house is just over 3ft deep (old victorian garden),i should be able to get 3/4 more fruits to ripen,now this is the time where all the digging and composting really is worth all the effort,the taste as they come off the plant is amazing...and thank you to the person who said to leave fresh planted autumn raspberries with their stems the first full year,we are cropping off the older stems as this years are getting ready..oh happy days
