Is anyone else growing yellow scallop squash?

I used the seeds from the mag. as I have not grown either pumpkin or squash before. planted two of each. I have just picked the first squash and there are others which will soon be ready. The pumpkin is taking over but no real sign of any fruit yet.

Ok I believe now. I left a squash on for a bit as we didnt need it and it must be a good 5" now. Amazing. Must post a pic

We are getting too many, at least one every day from 2/3 plants.

The Zephyr are just as prolific but I think we have 3 or 4 plants.

I have two fruit on mine (one on each plant), but they are only small. I wasn't sure how big they get and was going to pick them tomorrow... might leave them for a bit now.

Those Zephyr (I assume that's what the half green / half yellow things are) look amazing... haven't heard of them before.

Nomis, I love the look of those Zephyr things! Are they squashes as well? I think I'll look out for those for next year. Although I'm a little too impatient for squashes I think ;o)

I got a yellow scallopy thing growing from free seeds that came with my round yellow courgette seed. Not sure what you are supposed to do with them though so any ideas and recipes anyone has would be handy. This was it last Wednesday:

When larger use them just a you use courgette - slice up and fry, roast etc. When smaller they taste pretty good just lightly steamed/boiled with a knob of butter.

well I have seen some teeny tiny squash now. I was merrily chopping back some leaves that were shading my carrots too much and I spotted 2 little yellow things about the size of a marble. But there is life. I have loads of leaves and stems on them though.
My Jack O Lantern pumpkin is taking over the garden and I'm thinking that I shouldn't have planted 3. I have 2 largish ones that are about the size of a large orange and smaller ones that seems to form then go yellow so I nip them off but they do look good.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm glad I'm not the only impatient one on here and thanks for the tip on how to cook the squash. I'm the only one who likes courgettes in my house so hopefully the kids will like the squash if I get some big enough to cook.

Yaaay, patience rewarded, i have 1 pattypan on my plant, it is 2" diameter and is being nurtured until it is big enough to eat.

Just started getting a few here, had four, about 6 inch's in diameter for supper on sat, scooped out and roasted with a mix of mushrooms, courgette and chorizo with basil. Very nice.

Well the two tiny ones I had have both dropped off, so now I am back to square one with flowers but no fruit!

Impatient? I have so many now off 7 plants that I am giving away about 5 squash every single day, they are relentless!

Yes they are squashes, kinda like a cross between a scallop and courgette, tastewise.

Mine are tall, loads of male flowers and the one tiny female unopened flower fell off this morning - mind you it has pretty much rained for the past four weeks. It's cucumber buddy is doing well.
