cucumber wilted

my el diva has wilted, stems seem fine but the leaves have just gone floppy.

He looked so healthy and happy yesterday with 4 baby cuc's. Am hoping its heat...
There are 4 baby cuc's formed. I only got 1 last year and my other 2 plants have died this yr. No sign of insects or disease.

I've spoken to him nicely and raised his pot on some pebbles in case its over watering... and just have to pray for the best in the morning.

ooooh 2 leaves have got their shape back I think all is not lost.

I would have been gutted to loose another plant. Why do we put our selves through this again?

I'm having to water everything daily with this heat.
Every morning my tomatoes leaves are limp.
I give them a drink and they perk right up.

I've noticed this in my outdoor cucumbers too. Caused a panic the first time it happened, but apparently curcurbits (cucumbers, squashes etc) are prone to becoming droopy in hot weather. Even today, when it was overcast, but very humid and hot, my cucumbers wilted quite dramatically.

It could also be because they need watering, of course.

Sometimes i mist thoroughly with water when they've gone droopy and they recover after about half an hour (only to become droopy again if it's especially hot...)

Ohhh I had a wilted cucumber a few weeks ago. It is now back to normal.

Check how I treated it on my blog, but basically, take as many cucumbers as you can off of it, ease off on the watering, but keep it cool by spraying it, and put a mound of compost around the base of the stem. Mine came around despite being over 35 degrees in the polytunnel.
If it is outside cover the earth near it with something so the soil will not get too wet if it rains.
