Failed mooli

I have just thrown away my last mooli. The plants produced a wonderful display of foliage but the roots were tiny, about the diameter of a pea and the length of my thumb. They were so small I didn't even put them in the salad, the worms got the lot.

Has anyone else had this problem with mooli, or any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong?

Mooli's coming along nicely but my China Rose (pink derivitive of mooli) has all bolted!

I haven't even sown mine yet... they don't go in until Aug/Sept

They have a much longer growing season than ordinary radishes. Last year I thought mine had failed but I just left them in the ground and a couple of months later I had lovely long roots. Perhaps you should have given them another chance.

I uprooted the first of mine a month or two ago to find a tiny root.
Last week I noticed the others had bolted so uprooted two of them to find this:


Too late, but I'd have suggested leaving them in a bit longer as already mentioned.

Mine are full of worms and have pulled them up. If you sow them in August I will go and sow some more later on - when it has stopped raining.
