  • Thanks Mrs Dobby

    Hi

    Well, I'm still in shock!

After a weekend of eating food produced from our own garden including,

    Blueberry scones with Apricot Curd
    Broad and dwarf beans
    Peas
    Potaoes (Int.Kidney- delicious!)
    Black cherry conserve

The wife and myself were talking about how I wasn't allowed chickens again (thanks for all those who offered advice regarding those by the way!) and out of the blue she suggests keeping bees after I had told her about the 'Dobby honey tapping' post. Whether it was down to the sugar rush from the cherry conserve or the copious amounts of red wine, a read of the Dobby blog later and its looks like we are going into the dark arts of bee keeping.

I'll be hitting the archive hard but any pearls of wisdom, books or articles to read would also be welcome! Just need to find out my closest bee keeping club to Doncaster now!

So Mrs Dobby, thanks for taking time to write your blog!

    Cheers Dave

p.s. I found the article for setting up your hives for 4 people but is there any chance of breaking that down for a single set up? Cheers

we have bees too and they are absolutely fascinating. not to mention that the pollination of your fruit and veg seems to quadruple - which of course means so does your resulting produce! well worth it - though was having dinner with some friends and the weekend and they reckoned their first jar of home produced honey has 'cost' them aobut £500!!!
