pumpkin needing a little help

hello everyone

i am growing pumpkins, and too my surprise 4 of them are doing really well ( hope i havent jinks myself now and find them dead) i put them on bricks to take them away from the soil, but they have become WAY to big for the brick and i have taken it away.....i put some green mesh under it but they are too heavy and still touch the soil,..... im worried that if i lift it too much the pumpkin will snap off the vine........any ideas on what i can do....of shall i leave them laying on the soil??????

Mine just sit on the soil: so long as they aren't sitting in puddles they'll be OK

Can you get hold of any straw to put under them?

Straw, thick double layer of cardboard, wood, bricks, anything will do the job, but as Two Sheds has already said, as long as they arent sat in a puddle they should be fine, after all, they evolved to produce the pumpkins without us being there to put something underneath them to stop the contact with the soil!

As Twosheds said, as long as they're not sitting in puddles it really doesn't matter. Another thing you might be able to do (if the pumpkins aren't too heavy) is lift them a bit and mound the soil up under them - that would improve the air circulation round them.

Have never had a problem with pumpkins rotting by laying on the soil. Imagine trying to lift a 1,000lb pumpkin (world record about that) to put a brick or straw under it. LOL.

That would be an effort! I would like to grow a 1000 lb pumpkin one day.

My pumpkin is gay! All it throws out are male flowers! Even if it did proffer a female flower this late in the year I doubt anything would come of it!

I wouldn't bet on it one of my pumpkins only set its first fruit 5 days ago and it's already over 5 pound
