I'm getting a bit scared to type anything now. Thanks Nicos for banning the person. I wasn't particularly bothered about the definition of a marrow, just put what I thought (as most of us do). Why do people join a nice friendly forum just to cause trouble???

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Just checking is a overgrown courgette the same as a marrow ?

because it looks like my spare courgette that i bunged into a bucket had just about finished so I'm leaving the last fruit to grow into a marrow.

Good plan. I would have thought there would have been quite a few more to come yet though?

The plants leaves have gone sort of yellow and any babies grow to an inch then drop off, doesn't really matter because those two plants in the beds are producing more than enough courgettes for us.

I didn't read up on how heavily courgettes crop so raised 4 of them...just for the one of me!
I've now had every single different courgette dish you can imagine.

Though I do recommed slicing them into thin discs (not so thin that they're floppy, about 1-2mm), cover in flour. Heat oil in a pan with rosemary, discard rosemary once it begins to burn, throw in courgettes and fry.
So simple, but the flour absorbs the flavour and you can really taste the courgette.

They aren't entirely the same thing Bren, but big courgettes can be used in exactly the same way as a marrow in cooking, so it doesn't really matter. I suppose the important thing is that the plant will put all its energy into growing that one big courgette rather than lots of new little ones, so it depends what you want from the plant.
