The Aubergines on the plants outdoors are growing nicely, however I would just like to know when to pick them, as it is the first time I have grown them.
I have just been picking mine when they look about the right size and are nice and plump.
We have grown Baby Belle so are only little ones - I pick them when they are slightly bigger than an egg size. I guess if you are growing big ones they will be around 6 inches long and 2-3 inches diameter at the thickest bit....but this is only going by supermarket uniform ones so I think anything that looks well formed and plump would be fine.
I see baby ones in the supermarket that are tiny! So I'm guessing that anything bigger than those is fine! I've been picking mine at about 5-6 inces long... YUM YUM!
