I am not a big fan of cabbage but last year we stopped off at an organic farm on the way home from our holidays and we bought a mixed box of veg. In it was this pathetic looking cabbagy thing, loose headed and about 6 inch high. I almost threw it on the compst heap as it didn't look up to much but cooked it I did and it was absolutely delicious

So can anyone recommend a nice tasty cabbage for a novice? was thinking about ordering 'Precoce de Louviers' Spring Cabbage from real seeds. Has anyone tried this?

No idea what to suggest as whaterver we have tried to grow were so tasty that the butterflies got there first!!!

I don't think so LJ, have bought pak choi from supermarket and nothing like that. I would love to know what it was but the farm is miles away from where we live and probably wouldn't be able to find it again if I wanted to.

Sounds like "spring greens", which are immature leafy cabbage plants (nice and young and tender and absolutely delicious stir fried with butter and pepper). Almost any cabbage variety can be grown this way.
