Same here- they're just not ripe yet!
I accidentally knocked one of my green red chillies off the plant last week and put it onto the windowsill with my ripening toms ( yup- also accidentally knocked off)
It's now bright red- whereas the ones on the plant it came from are still
    green

        John,

Small point, cross pollination won't affect this generation of fruit. If any of them have cross pollinated then you may see it if you save the seeds and sow them in the future. This is assuming you started your current plants with known seed.

A trick some people use to encourage the fruits to change colour is to leave some over ripe bananas (or, if your stingy like me, just the skins) nearby. The ethylene given off by the bananas encourages the peppers to ripen.

Hi john, you are not the only one with green chillis. Ive just got the one chilli plant (from B&Q) its a hungarian Hot wax chilli which is covered in fruit, some of it is massive! at least 4" long and an inch thick - they are the biggest chilli's ive seen but they are all lime green. ive picked a couple and they are very mild, do you know if they will change colour or get hotter? I'm not sure if ive been over watering/feeding them. They are in the greenhouse and stood in a water saucer which I tend to fill up once a day.

          Cheers Dena

They're all still green. They will ripen sometime this year (specially if the sun comes back).

I have a lot of chilli and pepper plants - the Cayennes are just starting to turn chocolate or red, but the Jalapenos will stay green -the sweet pappers will ripen eventually to red or yellow but they taste fine green.

All the cayenne here are still green, theres hundreds of them, not quite sure what to do with them once they all turn red!

I also have dozens and dozens of green chillies, although my Bhut jolokias are turning lighter so hopefully they will turn soon. One plant though (not sure on variety and the labels, as ever, seem to be mixed/lost (don't you just love grandchildren tidying up for you ) has the cillies ripening to a bright yellow. The chillies are reasonably large, 3/4" diameter and 3" or 4" long. I picked one and made the deduction, it's a large chilli, looks mild and so took a big bite! OMG, sweat tears and pain all appeared at once - guess that'll teach me a lesson, book/cover springs to mind

I gave up waiting, took two large green cayennes off last night. Tasted the tip - like a normal pepper. Hmph. had a bit from higher up, and erm it hurt.

They look great - what do you think they are? What hot chillies did you sow?
