It's only August! Tons of time yet, I think. Mine are all full-size but still green. I convinced myself the other day that some were showing the first signs of a blush on one side, but I think I was imagining it. However, there's four weeks or more to the first frost, and even then they can be picked and ripened on the windowsill with a banana (all bananas are good for, if you ask me), or if it comes to it made into green tomato chutney.

I've got tons of them, from cherries to massive beefsteaks, all still green. I've had the odd few ripe ones though, so they're definately trying

I started a number early this year - especially beefsteaks and those I have bred myself, so I've had ripe ones for a while. However, I usually start getting the very first ripe ones in about the second week in august - in a greenhouse. I don't think anyone should consider green tomato chutney till at least October!Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

Lots of small ones - Ildi and the cherry types including the green toms - coming through nicely. This year all the bought tomato plants are very poor but those I've raised by seed are doing brilliantly, mainly heritage types and loaded with ripening fruits.TonyF, Dordogne 24220
