It is my first time growing toms from seed and I have 5 seedlings in a small tray (moneymaker) and a packet of Tornado which I haven't sown yet. Seedlings seem to be a bit leggy at the moment.

I hope to eat them MrsD! Lol!

I just love trying new varieties, so there are some 'old' favourites - Garden Pearl, Stupice, Black Prince, Matina etc and some newbies too.

I'm waiting (biting my fingernails with impatience) until the second week in March. It's so tempting, but I know I can't look after them properly indoors (too warm and not enough light) and I can't afford to heat the greenhouse.

I won't be starting my toms for another fortnight then they'll be in a hotbox propogator. I have 14 varieties at the moment with more on the way but I am also going for quantity as well as quality. Need to grow approx 1250 plants !!

                    sowed mine on saturday
                    15 gartenperle,
                    10 gardeners delight
15 Lido this is seed saved from last year from a plant that was given to me from all accounts he got given this as a trial seed from a company about 5 years ago and never saw it again but has kept it going by saving his own seed.
so as this is my first year of growing my own from seed will have to see how we do and if the Lido seed is viable
                    also got others to try

Seems a bit early to sow outdoor toms yet to me unless you have somewhere very light indoors to keep them or they may become very leggy, remember last year some of us had snow in March!

I noticed today that some of mine (like two of each) have germinated. I'll have to show Miss EB her snapdragons which seem to be thriving.
                              Bright Blessings
