Being able to sleep UNDER the duvet. And needing to dig out my fleecy dressing gown and slippers.

Same as others, slippers in the morning on the tiled floor, temp of 6 degrees C in the greenhouse last night, the needing to wear something in bed at night!
Also alot of woodburners have gone on around us, not us yet, we're hardier than that and the mouse traps have been set around the house, the rat poison will go out this week, to stop any incursions into the sheds.

But the biggest one for me, this weekend I cut my first bean plants down for drying and I cut a dozen squashes for hardening.
What can be more like Autumn, than a row of colourful, gorgeous squash in the sun and bean plants hung upside down outside the back door?

I guess we must be quite sheltered up here because, although we've had rain and high winds and the temperature has fallen a little bit, the squashes, pumpkins and courgettes seem to be putting on a spurt.

I have loads of new growth and half a dozen female flowers growing on the 2 Butternut squash plants and at least 2 female flowers coming on each of the 6 pumpkin plants and a load of new leaves as well. In fact the vines seemed to have gone mad, in terms of growing.

It may be cooler but summer is still alive and kicking in our corner of the world .

2.7 degrees C in the greenhouse last night, admittedly with an open door took me a bit unexpectedly.

After reading your post womble I nipped out to check mine, it was 7.5c not as cold as yours but still low.
The suns out now and it looks like being a nice day.

Here in SW Herts, it's feeling warm and pleasant for the first time since June, so maybe we're about to get a late return of Summer - but, while it's lovely now, earlyish this morning it was distinctly nippy and autumnal-feeling - the T.V. weather said that there may even have been a touch of frost here and there, August though it still is; so mixed messages, season-wise.

Going by the three nights camping at Grapestock I think autumn is about here. Our tent was wet with dew and could not have been any wetter this morning if it had rained all night. The night temps were also very cold and must have been close to freezing.

Walked on to my plot yesterday and the leaves of all the squash plants were dying off. My first thought was "looks like summer's over then" :>(

Whilst I might wax lyrical about swallows flying South and 'seasons of mist and mellow fruitfulness,'.... I normally just look at the calender....22nd September?...yes ...Then it is Autumn!
