Remove Leaves on Chilli's?

Hi
My outdoor chilli's have started to go orange.
The fruits are under a canopy of leaves and shielded from direct sunlight which I assume would help them ripen more quickly.

Is it advisable to remove leaves (in the same way you would with tomatoes) to expose the fruits to more sunlight?

yes but not too many they still need the leaves to grow.
