  • Yesterday strong winds

    Good Afternoon

Anyone else lose anything in the strong winds yesterday? I got home to find that my two "blow aways" were lying on their sides and had knocked over a lot of plants. Fortunately there was nothing in the blow aways themselves but it was probably my fault for leaving the door open.

We've got tree branches and stuff down: my sunflowers & sweetcorn were knocked over in last week's gales

Lots of apples off the tree before their time, and quite a few pots blown over - BUT THE TENT IS STILL WHERE I LEFT IT!!!

I have 3 blowaways that are weighed down by stones/sandbags/anything heavy I can find on the bottom shelves. Lose the shelf space, but not the blowaway!

I read that as "my lawnmower is in a tree" I did a double take. I should really stop speed reading.

                What on earth are blowaways?

                  Yes!

Our hops support canes all blew over. Fortunately nothing damaged and all is now happy again.

Blowaways are the small "greenhouses" with a plastic cover usually 3 to 5 tiers. They are good for small gardens.

They are nicknamed blowaways for the fact that they have a habit of blowing away in a stiff breeze!!

They are still very useful though!

Lost 2 sheets of polycarbonate out of my GH, snapped 2 sweetcorn, and dislodged a load of green toms from my baskets

our pollyhaus (4x2x2 meters) is very carefully trenched into the ground all the way round, buried a good 8 inches under. Touch wood, no problems.

I wondered that too - looks like we escaped more than a stiff breeze round here, was much windier Bank Holiday weekend.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
