Just picked our first ones today - totally delicious! Because I was a bit late starting everything this year I chose a variety which were due for harvest in September - I usually like to get them a bit earlier so I can use them for our August family bbq. Should have taken a photo - but we were so excited we ate them immediately!

My OH reuses to put the bbq away just yet - hes convinced we will get one more this year so lets hope hes right and we might have lots of corn to go on it! Dena

I'm growing incredible F1, the few in pots are only doing slightly worse than the ones in the ground. I have 2 seperate beds and one is worse than the other, the main bed they are all about 5ft tall and growing 3 each. Had my first one yesterday as the wind snapped the plant clean off at the stem, it wasn't completely filled out but it was very tasty, was a little small too. The remaining plants are a bit bigger though so hopefully the cobs will be too, it's late though, a lot won't be read until october at this rate assuming they don't drop dead.

Well patience is definetely a virtue Just picked 2 lovely ripe cobs for my 2 boys and i am told they were delish!
They had polinated well and it was only the top cm or so that was under ripe
i am really pleased and looking forward to corn on the cob for tomorrows lunch yummy
Both cobs had a couple of lady birds in the outer leafs so ive transferred them to other cobs but will have to try and cobble a bug box this weekend so they can over winter safely Dena

If you just pick the cobs and leave the corn standing they will find shelter there for the winter.
