I ask at my local grocers for those trays they have apples delivered in and as a bonus they're stackable.
      Location....East Midlands.

Mine go into trays, none of them touching each other, and get stored in the woodshed. I start doing this towards the end of autumn and am still eating apples in March.

Last year we picked and collected our apples and laid them along the shelf in our wooden shed, side by side but not touching and they lasted well into the winter. We are doing the same again this year.

Also, an old aunt of mine used to wrap them individually in newspaper and put them in drawers in an old dresser she had. She used to give us a bag home with us every time we visited.
