When to sow shallot seed

Hi all I'm pondering sowing shallot seed in a few weeks in a coldframe rather than in March (as per the packet) As I sow my leeks and onions in a few weeks

What problems am i likely to encounter

I always grow my shallots from sets, but I would definitely stick by the sowing dates on the seed packet. They are not there for nothing.
