Many of my pots and tubs get invaded by rose chafer grubs. They appear to have little impact on plant health but as they thrive they produce the most marvelous granular compost.
Now, I would like to know if the chafer waste products are recognised as a good growing medium. I have tried it out this year and seems to work at least as well as standard mpc when used for potting up. I have just set up a 'chafery' somewhat like a wormery to see if the productivity is good enough to produce adequate volumes of the stuff.
Should I be poisoning the grubs like many gardeners do or benefiting from their activities ?
