I had to give the permanent leek bed up when we had the manure issue last year. However the leeks I selected for seed are in their 3rd year and I'll let them flower each year until they die....

My leek grass was from last year's shaved heads - so fingers crossed they won't bolt until this time next year - hurrah!!!!

Could be much easier than resowing each year......we'll have to see how it goes.

I've left some of last year's in the ground, to hopefully flower this year and give this a go. A chap on the plot opposite mine did this past year, and his are going great guns much bigger than my seed sown ones.

If you want bigguns Sarz only take the grass from bigguns as they are basically clones!

I only left decent sized ones in the ground, figured they were the best to get seed from too

Absolutely - and as they are the last to bolt the babies will hopefully keep that trait!

I noticed today that my permanent leeks for seed have indeed got seed heads coming. Lovely!

                Next year then!

Just leave the last ones to bolt in the ground, those of a good size, and you will have ample leek seed come Oct time. I put the seed heads into a shoe box and leave it somewhere warm. I had so many 2 years ago that I haven't actually sown any from last year's shoe box yet.
